Born in Jordan and living in Perth since 1990, Rima Zabaneh studied art at what was known as Central TAFE (now North Metropolitan TAFE), she then completed her BA in Fine Art at Curtin University in 2005.
Rima has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Sculpture at Bathers and Sculpture by the Sea; she has also been involved in workshops and residencies. She also completed a number of public art commissions and is in a number of private collections as well as the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art, now part of The University of Western Australia art collection.
Rima recently came back from a month long stay in Delhi, India where she was part of Art For Change international artist residency, a very rich and powerful experience that left a great impression on her.
The current theme that seems to be driving Rima’s work is the idea of the flowy, natural and unforced pattern that occurs when you apply repetition to a single element or material and allow the work to dictate the rules.
