“I missed the last Bather’s Beach Sculpture show and I wasn’t too happy about it as I had decided what I wanted to make. So this little sculpture series has been sitting in the back of my mind for 2-3 years. I had no idea if it was going to work or not, but I knew I would not dislodge it until I addressed the problem. The best reason to make something is because you’re not sure if it is a daft idea or not. Anyway that’s what I always said to my students. “If you know it’s going to work, that you can make it and that it will look OK then what’s the point?”
After many years in public art arts, administration and, tertiary education it’s nice to finally have the time to clear out all my daft ideas.”
